The Problems with Democracy
One of the main issues with democracy is the lack of accountability. During election campaigns, politicians often make promises that they have no intention or means of fulfilling. These promises are merely empty rhetoric aimed at winning votes from the electorate. In reality, they often make unrealistic Populist proposals that cannot be implemented. Another problem is that in a Representative Democracy, the power of the majority overshadows the voices of the minority. The only real influence that the public has is in choosing their representatives. Even if citizens possess specialized knowledge, they are unable to directly translate that knowledge into action. This creates a limitation in politics, where the limit of political representatives becomes the limit of politics itself. Furthermore, in the realm of politics, political skills and a broad range of knowledge are often valued more than specialized knowledge. In order to have influence in policy-making, one must possess Soft Skills and a wide breadth of knowledge. As a result, Specialized Knowledge is often deprioritized. The focus shifts towards appearances and networks. Additionally, there is a tendency to surround oneself with experts who conform to one's own views, creating an Echo Chamber.
